First off – these smoothies are all super delicious! Since we are not adding any sweeteners to these smoothies they might not seem quite as sweet as an adult smoothie – but the natural sweetness of the smoothies will be just right for baby 👶.

They are also made with 5-ingredients or less and can be made in 5 minutes or less – making them a perfect addition for a quick breakfast, snack or lunch.
PLUS: there are 5 tips below on how to make the perfect smoothie for baby!
Reasons to Love these Smoothies

- great for 8 months and up
- extras can be frozen
- easy to make
- allergy-friendly

REASONS TO USE PUREE POUCHES
Using pre-made puree pouches in smoothies is a super-easy way to add a wide variety of fruits and veggies into your baby’s smoothie without all the extra work.
Of course, you can always use your own homemade baby food purees instead of the pouches. I have also added easy substitutions or alternatives for each pouch in all of the recipe cards below.
5 Reasons I love using pouches in baby’s smoothie:
- saves time – fruits and veggies are already cooked and ready to blend
- saves money – you don’t have to purchase a ton of small quantities of a wide variety of foods, you just need 1 pouch
- easy way to add in a wide variety of fruits and veggies
- makes for a creamy smoothy base
- easy way to add in more veggies to baby’s diet
How to Make smoothies for baby
- Place all of the ingredients of the smoothie into a blender and blend for 1-2 minutes or until smooth.
- Pour into a baby-friendly sippy cup or smoothie cup and serve.
Tips
- Blend for 1-2 Minutes: In order to get a super creamy smoothie, you will have to let the blender do its thing. Letting the machine run for 1-2 minutes will give it enough time to break down any and all pieces of fruit and veggies.
- Don’t Add Too Many Ingredients: your instinct may be to add all of the ingredients into the smoothie at the same time – flax seeds, fruits, veggies, , kale, oats, avocado, etc. Not only can that overwhelm baby’s digestive system, but it can also make for some not-so-tasty smoothies. Trust me, I’ve tried😉. All of the smoothies below have 5-ingredients or less. Yes, technically the baby food pouches have more than one ingredient in them, but since they were created with multiple purees that complement each other in flavor, we are counting that as a single ingredient.
- Thin Out with Milk: for babies that are just learning how to drink smoothies, it’s important to note that thinner is usually better for them. Sucking through a straw takes some practice and when the smoothie is thinned out this makes it just a little bit easier for baby to be able to get some through the straw.
- Spoon Feed Smoothies: If your baby is getting frustrated using the straw and sippy cup, then you can easily take the lid off and spoon feed the smoothie to baby. This will let them get used to the flavor and texture of a smoothie, without all the frustration. You can always try the smoothie in a sippy cup or baby cup another day.
- Use Ripe Bananas: because we are not using any added sweetener in these smoothie recipes, using a very ripe banana with lots of brown spots will help naturally sweeten up these recipes.
Servings and Storage
These recipes make roughly 14 ounces of smoothie, which can be a lot for little ones. I recommend dividing each recipe into 3-4 servings of 3-6 ounce each for baby or younger toddler.
If you have any leftovers, you can simply place the smoothie into an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours or in a freezer-safe container for up to one month. To defrost, you simply take the smoothie out of the freezer and place it in the fridge the night before you want to serve it. As the contents will settle, make sure to shake the smoothie before serving.
Prune Smoothie
This flavorful smoothie is amazing because not only because it tastes delicious but it may also help baby get things moving along down there.. if you catch my drift 💩😳. Filled with ingredients that may help baby or toddler take care of business – prunes, peaches, pears as well as a pinch of flaxseeds.

Protein Boost Smoothie
With just over 4 grams of protein per serving, this smoothie is a great way to get plant-based protein into your little one. We round out the bean and beets flavor with naturally sweetened strawberries and slices of bananas. If your little one likes really sweet smoothies, try adding in very ripe bananas with lots of brown spots as they will be naturally sweeter than just ripe bananas.

Hi could you use plain unsweetened yoghurt in the smoothie as-well as a dash of the milk or is that an overload? Or just the yoghurt?Â
Yes, you can definitely add in a little plain yogurt to any smoothie (great way to boost probiotics!), but you will also need some liquid in there as well (milk, water, etc.).
