How to cook sweet potato for baby
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Cut sweet potatoes in half lengthwise, then into 4 wedges lengthwise, for a total of 8 wedges. Depending on how big your sweet potato is, you may need to cut the wedges in half.
- Place wedges into a mixing bowl, and drizzle in oil and sprinkle with paprika. Toss with your hands until all of the sweet potatoes are covered.
- Place the wedges on a baking sheet. I do not line my baking sheet as I find that the metal will give the wedges a better crisp to the outside. Bake for 12 minutes, flip the wedges and then bake for another 12-15 minutes or until they are tender and golden brown.
- Let cool and serve.
How to store
You can store these wedges in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days making these sweet potato wedges perfect for make ahead baby weaning foods.

Little one loves these thank you! Bonus that they can be eaten by all the family as well!
How would you reheat after being stored in the fridge? ☺️
My whole family loves them too! I would reheat in the oven or air fryer at 350F for a few minutes. They will lose their texture in the microwave. xo, Michele
They turn our fantastic and might I add it’s not just a snack for baby but for yourself too.
Perfect. 5 stars
Thank you for the review! I am so happy to hear that both you and you little one loves these sweet potato wedges!
These are great! Do you know if they can be frozen and reheated as needed? My baby has gotten the hang of table foods and I have a ton of sweet potatoes that I no longer need to purée
So glad you enjoyed these wedges!
I haven’t tried freezing these, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I would freeze in a single layer in a zip-lock baggie and try to get as much air out as possible. Let us know if it works.
As a grandad with the starting of child minding duties as our daughter returns to work, I’m always looking for foods that will interest our little lady and these wedges fit the bill. Tasty as well as healthy, absolutely a win win.
So happy to hear your granddaughter loved these wedges. Total win!
These were wonderful! The texture was just perfect. My 8-month-old was a huge fan – these were easy for him to grab and eat. To be honest the adults sampled some and they are delish!
any other sauce on the side recommendations? My little guy is not very fond of avocado.
You can use any sauce you perfer. Depending on the age of baby, a citrus yogurt dip would be fun or even a ricotta and basil dip.
Do you leave the skin on?
You can leave the skin on or peel the sweet potatoes before roasting. I find that by leaving the skin on the potatoes it helps provide baby an easier grip to hold the sweet potatoes with.
