Easy Cantaloupe Popsicles

These Creamy Cantaloupe Popsicles are an amazing frozen summer treat for all ages – babies, toddlers, kids and even you! Made with only 4-ingredients, these popsicles can be made with no added sugar! Plus, I’ll show you how to make them 2 different ways!
Cantaloupe Popsicles
These melon popsicles are a nutritious and delicious way to beat the summer heat. They’re great to make in the summer to keep kids hydrated, and even entertained if they are helping you make them.
Made with 4 easy-to-find ingredients – cantaloupe, yogurt, honey and fresh lemon juice (with the last two being optional). And if you want to add a fun twist to these already delicious popsicles, you can add in a handful of strawberries! With a prep time of under 5 minutes, these healthy popsicles will be on heavy rotation in our house this summer!

Ingredients

- Melon: select a ripe melon that has been cut into chunks. You can also use any frozen cantaloupe that you have as well.
- Yogurt: Plain or vanilla, though I recommend using plain for babies under 1 year.
- Lemon (optional): a squeeze of fresh lemon to bring out the sweetness of the melon.
- Sweetener (optional): maple syrup, agave nectar or honey (for babies over 1 year)
Dairy-Free Tip: Choose dairy-free yogurt, like coconut, almond or cashew yogurt.
Benefits of Melon for Kids
Melons are filled with a wide variety of nutrients for your baby;
- Contain potassium, an important electrolyte for maintaining fluid balance, muscle contractions and normal heartbeat.
- High in vitamin C, which supports the immune system and helps with iron absorption.
- Cantaloupe is an excellent source of vitamin A, which is necessary for healthy eyes and skin.
- High water content helps keep your baby hydrated and relieves constipation
Melon Tip: you can use cantaloupe, honeydew or galia melon for this recipe.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Blend: Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and there are no chunks – roughly 1 minute.
- Popsicle Mold: Pour the liquid into a popsicle mold of your choice.
- Freeze: Place the popsicle tray in the freezer, and freeze for 5 hours or preferably overnight.
- Serve and enjoy!

You can store these for 3 months inside of the popsicle mold.
You do not have to add yogurt, but you may want to add another creamy substance, like canned coconut cream or coconut milk.
Cooking with Kids
You can easily have your kids help you make these fun popsicles.
Toddlers
- Toddlers can help measure and pour the ingredients into the blender.
- They can help put the lid on the blender and push start. Note: make sure to talk about not touching the blender blade while making something in the blender, as it can be sharp.
- Once blended, toddlers can help pour the popsicle mixture into the popsicle molds. You may want to pour the popsicle mixture into a smaller measuring cup with a pouring lip to make it easier on them.
- With help, they can place the popsicle molds into the freezer. My kids always spill the tray at this point, so just give them an extra hand.
Kids
- You can pretty much let older kids make this recipe by themselves.
- They can pick out and measure all of the ingredients. Note: make sure to talk about not touching the blender blade while making something in the blender, as it can be sharp.
- Kids can pour the popsicle mixture into the molds and place the popsicle mold into the freezer.
Fun Add-Ins
You can make these popsicles as-is or try adding in any of these fun ingredients.
- Fresh lime juice (instead of lemon)
- Canned coconut cream
- 2-3 mint leaves before blending
- A handful of peaches, raspberries or cherries (fresh or frozen)
- Fresh or frozen strawberries
- A few tablespoons of shredded coconut
How to Store these Popsicles
Once frozen, these popsicles will last up to 3 months in the freezer inside the popsicle mold.
Recipe Tips
- Frozen Cantaloupe: you can use frozen cantaloupe in this recipe if you prefer.
- Sweetness: depending on the sweetness levels of your melon, you may need to add in 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey (for over 1-year-old) that is listed in the recipe card. Taste the popsicle mixture after blending it to see if you need to add any more sweetener.
- Releasing from Mold: if you are having a hard time releasing the popsicles from the mold, then you can try running the mold under warm water for 15-30 seconds.
- Yield of Recipe: some molds are bigger or smaller than others. So it’s important to know that you may have to double or triple some recipes depending on the size of your molds and how many popsicles you are making. I have always found that if I make too much popsicle mixture, my kids are happy to drink it like a smoothie for me;).

Get the recipe: Easy Cantaloupe Popsicles – 2 Ways!
Ingredients
- 2 cups cantaloupe
- 3/4 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
- 2 tbsp freshly squeeze lemon juice
- 2-3 tbsp sweetener (optional – see notes below)
Instructions
- Prep: Place the cantaloupe, yogurt, lemon juice and sweetener (if using), into a blender
- Blend: on medium-high speed puree the cantaloupe mixture for 1-2 minutes or until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Pour: using your favorite popsicle mold, pour the cantaloupe mixture into the molds until the fill line. Place in the popsicle sticks.
- Freeze: place the popsicle mold into the freezer and let freeze for at least 5 hours but preferably overnight.
- Eat: take a popsicle out of the freezer and take out of the mold. Eat and enjoy.
